Cockroach Control

Cockroaches unfortunately are everywhere where there’s people. They can spread like wildfire. All they need is somewhere with a food source, water and shelter. They are very commonly transported from location to location as they travel on a person’s belongings from an infested home. Apartments and multi-unit buildings with neighboring walls can take over the entire building very quickly at the rate that cockroaches reproduce.
Cockroaches are a health risk carrying germs and disease that spread to humans through cockroach feces, vomit, and their shedded skin. This can get on our food, eating utensils, and many other items that we use on a day to day basis. Cockroaches are almost impossible to completely eliminate without a trained professional’s help.
the German Cockroach
The Pacific Northwest has many different kinds of cockroaches that live here. By far the most common we see around the Seattle area is the German Cockroach. German cockroaches are very easy to identify if you know what to look for. They grow to be about an inch long. They have two distinct black stripes running down the pronotum from just behind the head down to the base of the wings. Although they do have wings, they vary seldomly use them to fly. Each egg pouch that they lay can carry as many as 45 individual eggs, and can grow from a baby to an adult in about 6 weeks.
The American Cockroach
The American Cockroach is the largest species we see around the Pacific Northwest. They can grow up to about 2 inches. They are a reddish brown color with an oblong oval body, they also have a yellow band behind their heads. They love greasy and starchy foods, but will really eat just about anything. The females lay egg sacs of up to 16 eggs. A female can lay up to 100 egg cases in their lifetime. They are more common in wooded areas. Oriental cockroach
Oriental cockroaches are very common in the more southern United States but we do get them on occasion around the Pacific Northwest.
They are dark brown to black colored, and grow up to about an inch. They are slow movers and not the best climbers. Just like all the other cockroaches, they will eat basically anything they can find on the floor under your fridge or stove. Females can produce up to 10 egg capsules and each capsule contains 16 eggs. They love to live in filthy conditions and can spread their germs and anywhere that they infest.
Brown Banded Cockroach
Brown Banded Cockroach have brown bands that run under their wings as their name implies. They prefer higher elevations in warme spaces. They tend to only come out at night because they try to avoid light. They only grow to about 1/2 inch long. Each female egg capsule can produce up to 18 eggs. This cockroach is actually very capable of flying.
