The Black Widow
Seattle area has a small population of them. The female adults are black and shiny with the famous red hourglass marking on the abdomen. They can be up to 1.5 inches. The male adults are light black to gray in color and have red and white streaks on the abdomen. They males are smaller than the females and usually don’t grow past 1 inch. The bite can cause chest and muscle cramps and pain. The pain can spread to the abdomen causing nausea and cramping. Other symptoms could cause restlessness, breathing and speech difficulty, sweating, and fever. The symptoms usually decline after 3-5 days.
The Hobo spider
The Hobo spider is a very common spider around the pacific northwest and unfortunately their bites can pack a punch. They are light to medium brown with dark stripes down the sides and midline. Their bodies are oblong with longer posterior spinnerets visible from above. Their bites can cause a stinging sensation. It may be able to cause a small area of tissue death.
The Yellow Sac Spider
The Yellow Sac Spider is light yellow to pale yellowish green. an adult female can get up to an inch long including the legs. These bites are actually powerful and have fangs that can easily penetrate the human skin. They are garden spiders and are found in vegetation areas such as gardens. The venom is a neurotoxic poison causing possible damage to the nerve tissue. you may start out with an itchy sensation of blistering. If these conditions start to develop you should seek medical attention.
